The second Austria trip was uneventful. At a 85-90 km speed we travelled along the German highways at leisure. However, in the pouring rain we soon found out that the small and curved upper windows in the safari roof leaked a lot of water. So far, we have not been able to stop this completely. Once in Austria, we gave Wa Bashasha a rough time on the steep stone and gravel roads and she kept herself well. At night on the narrow roads we missed extra lights and made a mental note to install them once we were back in Veldhoven. Back home some bigger work was carried out:

In the last week of November Wa Bashasha goes back once more to the workshop to have her 24V military Landrover dynamo exchanged for a 24V Scania one (not original, but much easier and cheaper to repair and maintain than the Landrover dynamo), to have two more 24V plugs fitted and a 24-220V transformer and to get her differential, steering rod and carter protection.

We have kept a detailed log of Wa Bashasha’s restoration, including photographs, technical notes and costs of parts and labour. Those seriously interested in this information can contact us by e-mail.
